Błędowska Desert
This is the largest area of drifting sands in Poland. The Błędowska Desert is located within the Landscape Park of the Eagles’ Nests and the ecological area of Pustynia Błędowska, making it prohibited to move around with cars and quads. The origin of this unique landscape is not natural. Its ‘desert’ appearance was created by humans, who intensively cleared local forests to meet the demand for wood, used as fuel for smelting and for lining tunnels in the mines of Olkusz.
